1984

Morgan Stanley International Ltd. (MSIL), Tokyo Branch opens

1984 Obtains securities business license
1986 Obtains Tokyo Stock Exchange membership
1987 Obtains Osaka Securities Exchange membership
1988 MSIL is renamed Morgan Stanley Japan Limited (MSJL)
1989 Obtains Tokyo Financial Exchange membership
1989 Obtains Nagoya Stock Exchange membership
1996 Office moves from Otemachi to Ebisu
1999 MSJL commences business as Morgan Stanley Dean Witter Japan Limited (MSDWJL) following transfer of business from MSJL
2001 MSDWJL is renamed Morgan Stanley Japan Limited (MSJL)
2004 Obtains Jasdaq Securities Exchange membership
2005 Obtains Tokyo Commodity Exchange membership
2006 MSJL commences business as Morgan Stanley Japan Securities Co., Ltd. (MSJS) following the transfer of business from MSJL
2007 Reorganizes Japan operations under a locally incorporated holding company, Morgan Stanley Japan Holdings Co., Ltd.
2010 MSJS changes its name to Morgan Stanley MUFG Securities Co., Ltd. following the commencement of Morgan Stanley’s securities joint venture with Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group in Japan.
